Editorial Policy
Where WaterDecoded’s information comes from and how pages get corrected.
WaterDecoded publishes educational guidance on whole-home water treatment. Pages are published under the WaterDecoded name, without an individual byline.
Sources for health and contaminant facts
Contaminant limits, health effects, and testing guidance are sourced to these publishers:
- U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- World Health Organization
- U.S. Geological Survey
- Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
- State drinking-water standards, state health departments, and university extension programs
A figure that cannot be traced to one of them is left off the page.
Product specifications and certifications
Flow rates, capacities, ratings, and certification claims come from the manufacturer’s current product listing. When a system is not listed as certified to an NSF/ANSI standard, the page says so. Where a manufacturer makes a claim that its listing does not back, the claim stays off the page.
Testing
WaterDecoded does not claim hands-on testing of any system. Recommendations rest on published specifications and the sources listed above. A test of your own supply is a job for a state-certified lab or a licensed professional.
Prices and affiliate links
Prices come from the seller’s listing and change without notice, so the retailer’s page is the one to trust at checkout. Some product links are affiliate links. The affiliate disclosure lists each program and how a commission is earned.
Corrections
If a page contains an error, email contact@waterdecoded.com with the page address and the figure in question. A confirmed correction is made on the page and the page’s update date is changed.
WaterDecoded is educational. It is not a substitute for certified water testing or the advice of a licensed professional. What is in your water, and which system fits it, comes down to a test of your own supply.
